A boat crew set course for a spot just behind the horizon. A circular area of 12.4 km in the North Sea where only the sea and the horizon can be seen. Floating around in this 12.4 diameter area, the crew searched for something to give them direction and something to hold on. While they were nowhere as far away from the world as there, they were at the same time right in the middle of it. A new and different immensity crossed their horizon: our society’s inexhaustible hunger for more. Against the background of a consuming world on the move, they sought in themselves the directionless and directional. Personal and global structures came together in this allegorical journey.
